Open Surgery
Open Surgery each weekday morning. If you arrive before 10am you can almost always see a doctor, usually your own. You may have to wait as patients are seen in turn. Open Surgery can be very busy so, if you have complex problems, it would be better to make an appointment.

Out of Hours
We are closed between 6.00pm and 8.30am weekdays and on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. If you need a doctor urgently when we are closed, please telephone Oxford 778244.

Home Visits
If you are too frail or sick to attend surgery, please contact Reception before 10.30am if possible. If you explain to the Receptionist exactly what is wrong, it will help the doctor see the most urgent cases first.

Whose Health is it Anyway?

Thank you to the many of you who took the time to provide your details.

For those of you who completed our short survey, thank you for letting us have your comments and ideas.

As promised, here is some more information on the Leys Health Centre Patient Participation Group (PPG). The PPG is a group of patients from whom the practice will seek advice about changes and improvements to its service. The more patients who belong to the group the better, as this should mean that the PPG reflects the different backgrounds and thoughts of the patient population as a whole.

We hope that the interest you showed by filling in the “blue form” means that you will be happy to be contacted by email a few times a year for your views, with your reply only taking only a very few minutes of your time.

What did the PPG survey show?

The most popular topic was ‘Improved Access to doctors’. This included comments about appointment times, appointment availability and appointments for people who work during the day.

Other popular topics were about having more time with your doctor and about weight management.

If you would like to see the full survey results, you can download these by clicking on the link below.

What is the practice doing in response to the PPG survey?

Next, the practice would like to carry out a much larger patient survey about the most popular topic – Improved access to doctors – and then agree a plan of action with the PPG by the end of March 2012.

(We hope to look at some of the other topics, or other new topics, next year.)

What do you want me to do now?

If you think that the approach the practice is taking is OK, then you do not need to do anything and we will carry on with the larger patient survey as described above.

However, if you have any comments about the initial PPG survey, its results or the practice’s approach to developing the larger practice survey, please let us know at Leys.PPG@nhs.net within the next 10 days.

What happens next?

Once the questionnaire for the larger practice survey is ready (in January), we will send this to the members of the PPG for comments and approval. This will then be distributed in February.

How will you contact me?

As most of those who filled in the “blue form” had an email address, we have chosen this as our main method of contact. However, news and updates from the PPG will be available on the practice notice-boards, on our website and (when possible) will be published in the Leys News.

What if I don’t want to be a part of the PPG?

If, at any time, you wish to opt out of receiving information about the PPG, then simply email the practice at Leys.PPG@nhs.net putting “ PPG no thanks” in the subject line (and your name and date of birth in the body of the email).

Thank you!

Please accept the practice’s thanks for your time and interest in giving your views and helping to develop the Leys Patient Participation Group.
